I’m Lauren, a mum of one and a lover of the outdoors. I started this blog primarily as a way of documenting all the camping trips, walks and days out that me and my family have enjoyed. As my husband Luke is a talented photographer, this blog has been a great way of preserving these special memories.

Also, as time has gone on I’ve tried to add some ideas and tips that we’ve picked up along the way. After baby Finn came along in January 2015, The Helpful Hiker has taken a more family friendly approach, however, the ethos behind my blog remains the same. Put simply, it is easy for anyone and everyone to enjoy the outdoors. You don’t need to spend a lot of money and you don’t need lots of expensive equipment.
